I am always very touched to hear reports from Faith and Light chaplains about how their ministry has changed profoundly after having known and experienced friendship with our intellectually disabled friends. I know some of them whose vocation is not unfamiliar to these bonds of friendship (whether that may be in the heart of their family or elsewhere)...

Our most recent meeting was held in Wépion, Belgium, from the 20th to 24th February. I wanted this meeting – which brought together the international coordinator, the 11 vice international coordinators, the international chaplain and the secretary-general – to be an occasion where each person’s bonds with this team were strengthened, to make each person aware of the joys and the suffering experienced in the 50 provinces, to all share in the life of our movement together.

Among thousands of young people, more than 200 members of Faith and Light coming from Zimbabwe, Colombia, Portugal, United Kingdom, Belgium, France and of course Spain will meet in the dioceses and in Madrid to celebrate together the World youth days on the following theme : "Planted and built up in Jesus Christ, firm in the faith".

Pilgrimage in Romania

The candle of the 40th anniversary was relit last Thursday in Lourdes. It burns for the duration of the pilgrimages wherever they are around the world. From July 21st to 24th, it accompanied the 260 pilgrims from the three countries of the Danube province (Hungary, Romania, Serbia) and of South Poland (a delegation of about twenty people).

Many messengers of Joy are on the way.
About 500 pilgrims, coming from the Kimata province (Center of Italy, Cyprus and Greece) met from June 30th until July 4th in Loreto and Rome. 73 came from Cyprus, 50 from Greece. Among them, an orthodox chaplain and 120 orthodox brothers.
And from July 7th until 13th, 500 pilgrims from UK North and South celebrated the 40th Faith and Light anniversary in Lourdes.

The weekend of the Ascension was eventful ! Four great pilgrimages took place :
in Paray-le-Monial (province France Rhône Azur and Belgium) ; in Loreto (Italy North and Galilee) ; in Paola (Italy South, Poland Center East and Slovenia) and in Steyl (The Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg and Austria).
