Subscribe to RSS feeds
What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a data format used for easily distributing a list of headlines, update notices, and sometimes content to a wide number of Internet users. It is used by computer programs that organize those headlines and notices for easy reading. It benefits other websites or publishers by letting them syndicate content automatically.
You no longer need to visit your favorite websites to be notified of new and changed content: simply insert their RSS information stream in compatible software to aggregate all your feeds from many sites into one place!
Thus, when you collect the information streams from 01net, you can display on your computer the latest news published on our website without logging into our home page.
How do I access RSS?
From your computer there are several ways to access to the information streams published by Faith and Light.
You can either:
- Use your email software and access to this information when you check your emails,
- Use your browser to display different information flows on a homepage,
- Use specialized softwares aggregating RSS feeds, also known as RSS feed reader or news aggregator softwares,
- Or use these information streams on your Smartphone, Palm or Pocket PC connected via Bluetooth to a GPRS mobile.
Whatever approach is adopted, you must register the URL for each information stream you want to retrieve. It is a very simple operation done with a mouse click.
Indeed, most sites distributing information streams display a small icon on their pages like RSS or XML icons. Just click on the icon and the thread information is automatically recognized by your software and added to your content aggregation.
What is it like?
For a first experience, without installing anything on your computer, you simply use a RSS reader online, able to read any RSS feed.
Open a new window in your browser and enter the following URL into the address field of your browser: http://www.faithandlight.org/rss/RSS
You can now move to the next step and install a real tool for content aggregation (Google Reader, Netvibes ....)
